Workshops & PresentationsI teach workshops and courses in both online, in-person, and blended spaces. These workshops range from teaching specific inquiry-based labs and activities to instructional strategies that engage students in critical thinking. For my in-person workshops, I rely on a lot of hands-on activities, group work, and instructables that encourage participant interaction.

Online CoursesI offer a range of online courses that are self-paced and/or offer a mentoring component. My course videos are broken into 15-minute segments, or contain embedded table of contents so that you can skip to the sections that you need. For example, when you go to full screen on the teaching video on the left, you'll see a Table of Contents button on the bottom bar on the right. This is a typical video that I create for my courses.
My courses often contain a discussion component, review questions, and instructables to help you follow along and put what you've learned to practice. Coming up: My team and I are working on making online courses even more interactive! Our project involves creating interactive science kits that we can ship to people who take a science teaching course. That way, you get to experience inquiry teaching through inquiry teaching! |
Program EvaluationI work very closely with stakeholders to make sure that the evaluation plan is appropriate and serves the needs of the program. Being an evaluator is being a critical friend, and I prefer formative assessments taken during program implementation in order to help inform and improve the program.
This link will take you to a conference paper published on the COMETS scholarship program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. As their external evaluator, I have had the pleasure of conducting evaluations for the program over the course of four years. This paper presents some of my findings. |
